Fun Nails

My niece is constantly painting my other niece's nails. I think she has a new color or design on every week.
I thought I would share some fun nail designs for her (and you).

Movies

Here are a few movies I watched recenlty.
Have you seen any of them?
That's What I Am was pretty dang cute.
Something Borrowed was okay (I'm not a huge Kate Hudson fan these days).
I thought the Adjustment Bureau was clever.

My Little Matador

I really wanted Brody to be a matador for Halloween this year (this is most likely my last year to decide) but I didn't love any of the costumes I saw. I decided the best thing to do was to make one. That's where my mother in law comes in. I just told her what I envisioned and she made it happen, but much better than I could have dreamed of.  She is amazing!

Brody loves being a bull fighter.
I have even caught him trying to draw a mustache on himself a few times.

Check out some of the details on Brody's matador costume.
Thanks Beth!

Dianna's Must Haves

1) Glue Dots
These can be used for everyday use and all kinds of crafts. They are so easy to use.

2) Oxi Clean
This laundry spray helped me get out old yellow stains from some of the little suits Brody wears to church. They were my brother's from over 30 years ago and Oxi Clean helped make them look new again. Oxi Clean has also helped me get out tough food stains on Brody's clothes.

3) Toy Story Big Boy Underwear
Now that Brody is potty trained he is very particular about what underwear he will wear. He almost always will only wear Woody or Rex big boys.

Do you use any of my must haves?

Ride to a Witch at Gardner Village

Every Fall I like to make a trip to Gardner Village in West Jordan Utah. The whole place is dressed up in fun Halloween decorations including mechanical witches. Every where you turn there is a photo opportunity.
This year Gardner Village gave me tickets to Ride to a Witch. We got to go on a tractor pulled hay ride to visit a few witch homes. The witches were fun and entertaining. Brody liked stirring the witch's cauldron.
Gardner Village has some great events for the family this Month: Breakfast with a Witch, Witch Scavenger Hunt, pony rides, Witch Palooza and more.

Gardner Village provided me with tickets for this review, all opinions are my own.

White Vinegar Tips

- Stop clingy clothes by adding 1/2 a cup of white distilled vinegar to wash cycle.

- Clean your hairbrush by soaking it in white distilled vinegar.

- Quiet a barking dog by filling a spray bottle with equal parts water and white distilled vinegar and spray it at the dog when it barks.

What do you use white vinegar for?

Random

It's amazing how much fun can come from some rocks and gold spray paint.
Last week I put together a little treasure hunt for Brody and a few of his cousins. We had a lot of fun!

I am really happy about the Cardinals going to the World Series!

Brody's Halloween costume is almost finished.

My family will be heading to Las Vegas soon. Any suggestions on fun things to do with kids?

I am working on this years Give Thanks Series. I have 1 or 2 spaces left, if you want to guest post send me an email
Make sure to tell me a little about what you want to post.

Scary movie previews should be banned from TV. They scare me!

Are you on Pinterest? I am. I love it!

Turkey Treat Bag- a DIY Tutorial

I had fun putting these little turkey treat bags together. You can fill them with popcorn for a yummy gift or use them as a place card by adding a name to the bag.
 You will need:
1 brown paper bag
6 paper feathers
1 turkey head including the beak and wattle (that's the red dangle thing)
Glue Dots® Glue Lines
Mini Glue Dots®
Black marker
You can download a pattern for the turkey feathers and head here from Pink Paper Peppermints.
Fill the brown paper bag with a treat of your choice.
Fold the top over 2 times and place a Glue Dots® Glue Line on the fold.
Fold and press.
Using the Mini Glue Dots® apply the beak and waddle to the turkey head.
 Draw eyes on the turkey.
Secure the turkey head to the bag with Glue Dots®.
Fan out the turkey feathers and place a Mini Glue Dot® between each feather.
Secure the feather to the backside of the turkey bag with Glue Dots®.

Fall Leaves Mobile- DIY Tutorial

Recently I made a fall mobile for the Glue Dots® Design Team and I'm going to share it with you.
The beauty of fall decor is that you can leave it up longer than Halloween decorations as it blends in with the Thanksgiving holiday.
Supplies:
2 pieces of 2" x 11" cardstock
Glue Dots® (Craft Glue Dots® and Mini Glue Dots®)
7-11 pieces of string (I used fishing line) 19"- 21" long
An assortment of colored paper leaves

Lets get started.

First I made a paper circle by taking the two strips of paper and placed two Craft Glue Dots® on one end of each strip of paper and pressed them to the end of the other strip without Glue Dots®.
Using a whole punch, cut three evenly spaced holes in the circle.
Next take three pieces of string and tie each one to the holes.
Once all three strings are attached tie them together near the free end.
This is where you will hang your mobile.
Now you will hang your remaining pieces of string by  placing a Craft Glue Dots® on the inside of the circle and pressing the end of your string to it.

Next place a Mini Glue Dot® on each leaf and press to the string.
Repeat until your leaf mobile is full.
Hang mobile and enjoy.

South Western Chicken Soup

This yummy South Western Soup recipe was introduced to me a few years ago when
Jackie shared this recipe on my Blogger's Recipe Roundup
This soup is really easy to make and tastes great! It is perfect for this chilly fall weather.

Ingredients
1 12-ounce jar salsa verde
3 cups cooked chicken pieces (1 small deli-counter rotisserie chicken or leftovers)
1 15-ounce can cannellini beans, drained
3 cups chicken broth
1 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
2 green onions, chopped
1/2 cup sour cream
tortilla chips (optional)

Directions
Empty the salsa into a large saucepan. Cook for 2 minutes over medium-high heat, then add the chicken, beans, broth, and cumin (if desired). Bring to a boil, lower heat to a simmer, and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Top each bowl with a sprinkling of onions, a dollop of sour cream, and some tortilla chips (if desired). For a soupier dish, use 4 cups of broth.

Serves 4

It's Just Another Stylin' Sunday

If you're wondering what the red marks on Brody's face are,
under his nose is from his face meeting the sidewalk last week.
He keeps biting his bottom lip and it leaves it dry and red. It drive me crazy.

This Week

We have had a fun week!
Here's a little peak at what our week was like.
I helped Brody and his cousins make Indian paper headdresses.

I had a fun girls night out with some friends.

Brody went on a train ride with his grandma.

We went to Travis' softball game "go Muscle Hawk".

(sorry about the horrible phone picture)

This week Brody decided he was ready for potty training.
After a failed potty training attempt this summer, Brody decided on his own that he was ready.
We have only had a few accidents this whole week!

We have been singing a lot.
Brody's favorite songs include the Wheels On The Bus Song, Popcorn Popping and
Britney Spears' Till the World Ends.
What songs do you sing with your kids?

What have you been up to this week?

Halloween Costumes

I can't believe October is here, Halloween will be here before I know it. Luckily my awesome mother in law is working on sewing Brody's costume for me. I'm so lucky!
For those of you who don't sew (or don't have a mom/mother in law who sews) here are some of my favorite Halloween costumes from Chasing Fireflies (I love their costumes).

What are kids going to be for Halloween this year?
