Shonee from Hawthorne and Main
I am so excited to be participating in Whatever Dee Dee Wants give thanks series. You guys are seriously in for some amazing inspiration. Since we are well into the fall season I came up with a super simple DIY fall centerpiece.
If you have been following my blog you may remember way back in July I posted a DIY Patriotic Centerpiece over here, using moss. I am a girl who likes to re-purpose and re-use. Plus, I am really loving moss right now so I thought that it would be a prefect match. I found this chicken wire basket at Walmart for $5. It was located in the crafting area. I also picked up some fake sunflowers from my local Joanns. You can see where I used some of these same sunflowers for my fall mantel here.
To start, I added a piece of burlap that I had left over from a different project. I used it to line the basket. If you are using a basket that doesn't have as big of holes as the chicken wire you might be ok to not use the burlap. I originally didn't have the burlap in there and it was a big ol' mess. Actually though, I really like the look of the burlap now that it's done.

Next, I grabbed my moss and just plopped it into the basket. This stuff really just looks so awesome doesn't it!!
To separate each of the flowers I bent them back and forth until the wire broke. I broke mine off at the bottom right before they all join together.
After that I just stuck them right into the moss. I love the color combinations of the yellow, browns and oranges.
What fall decor projects are you working on?
Linking at these fabulous parties!
It was so fun hanging out here today!! Thanks for having me!!
