Well, as much as I hate to see the year fly by, Thanksgiving is just around the corner. And I'm participating in the Give Thanks series for the WhateverDeeDeeWants blog! I decided to ask myself what Thanksgiving meant to me before I came up with my project. Aside from the obvious flood of gratitude I feel, a big part of Thanksgiving for me is the GATHERING of loved ones. The holidays in general mean so many things but what I look forward to most is the warmth you feel on the holidays because of the people you're surrounded with. So, with that, I decided to make a Thanksgiving Sign Tutorial using the word "Gather".
I used 2 pieces of scrap wood and pieced them together on the back with a smaller piece of wood. Then I used my favorite Rustoleum stain in Dark Walnut!
Next, I found some burlap in my craft stash, cut to size and then hot glued to my piece of wood.
I found these chalkpaper pendant cutouts at Michaels stores which makes it so easy! No cutting necessary!
I also grabbed some cute leaf embellishments from Michaels
To make the pendant banner, I drew the letters on with a paint pen. This gives it the "look" of the chalk sign but it's permanent. I glued the string to the back of the sign using some felt scraps and glued the chalk paper in a few places so that it wouldn't slide around. I added the feathers in between letters, but I'm still not sure how much I "LOVE" love them, so they may come off. I can't decide! But it definitely has that Thanksgiving feel and I'm happy with how easy it was to put together!
I'm grateful I had the opportunity to work with the whateverdeedeewants blog and be sure to check out all the other projects featured in the "Give Thanks" series!
Love love love his!
